The Beginning of a New Day...
The Beginning of a New Day...

It's early, it's quiet, and although the new day's sun is beginning to fill my living room, I don't feel at all like I'm in the light but rather in DARKNESS!  Dreams, goals, and things that have been spoken over my life seem further from my grasp now than ever.  My mental chatter is not making Philippians 4:8 proud...at all!  Let's just say, my mind seems more like a caged octagon with 2 mixed martial arts fighters going at it!  One fighter representing what God has declared over me, the other what I see in High Definition all around me (I'll let you guess which one is winning).  Suddenly, I hear Him in the midst of my turmoil.  I hear these words, "I use the darkness".  What? This can't be God speaking to me! He is the Father of lights, not Darkness!  As quickly as I try to over ride this voice, a flood, a down load, an enlightenment or whatever you want to call it, hits me!  This Awesome God we serve, is not wasteful.  Everything has a purpose, a function.  ALL things work together!  It's God's divine plan for that beautiful flower we admire, to FIRST be a seed that has to drop into the ground and be covered with darkness, and even die before it emerges into what we regard as a thing of beauty.  One of God's greatest gifts, is the ability for a man and woman to come together and make a child, and, yet still, that baby is nourished and formed in utter darkness for 9 months in it's Mother's womb.  Sleep consultant Dr. Neil Stanley says that, "all living creatures have an instinctive need for darkness."  However, we are a society that even when natural darkness arrives we light up the night with street lights, house lights, headlights and many more lights.  Now for the sake of peace of mind, I want to make sure you are following me.  I do not speak of a darkness that you hide  an alternate life in, but rather a darkness that God hides you in.  In the darkness we rest and are restored.  In darkness we are closer to ourselves, thoughts, and dreams, that in the day, are easily undetected by the pace of life.  So, whether you feel forgotten, or thoughts of regret, or even worse, you're ready to quit because you feel inadequate or non-productive....let us shift our perspective!  Could it be that the darkness you feel around you may not necessarily be one of deficiency or gloom, but rather you are in the darkness that comes from the Shadow of the Almighty.  Keep in mind every new day starts in darkness!  If you feel in the dark, rise with confidence that there is a new day rising upon you!  Don't be confused by the darkness, rather embrace it. Use the darkness wisely, because suddenly, the first light of the new season rising upon you will break and darkness must give way!
